Whereas equality and integration into Canadian society is the ultimate goal of people who are blind and
Whereas citizens identification is a government role in Canada and
Whereas a person should not have to be identified with any organization and
Whereas membership identification can evoke attitudes and opinions about a person and
Whereas the government in most if not all provinces and territories have an existing drivers licensing service that provides picture identification therefore
Be it resolved that the NFB:AE will advocate and lobby provincial governments for a picture identification service that provides and respects the following.
1. Identifies the person has a disability.
2. Can be used by people who do not drive for identification
3. Does not relegate people into becoming identified with or a member of any organization besides the province and federal governments.
