2001-08: Convention Planning Procedures

WHEREAS planning a convention every year takes a great deal of resources, energy and time

WHEREAS The NFB:AE is a small organization and currently has very few individuals working on projects for the organization

WHEREAS the goal of the NFB:AE convention is to be one of the premier blindness events in Canada

WHEREAS the convention can be used as an organizational membership development tool

BE IT RESOLVED THAT In Convention Assembled this 27th day of May in Vancouver BC that the membership adopt the following procedure for holding NFB:AE conventions:

  1. That beginning this year, the NFB:AE convention be held on the odd-numbered years to coincide with the regular election of the president
  2. That in non-convention years, a 1-day general membership meeting be held in a location where the organization has a presence to deal with the membership business that must be transacted each year.
  3. That beginning this year, the location of the next convention be chosen or ratified by the membership assembled at a convention currently being held.
  4. That the board be directed to develop and follow a process to allow locations where the organization would like to enhance its presence to bid for the next convention.
