2003-15: Electric and hybrid Cars
Whereas: vehicles are becoming more environmentally friendly, including the silencing of their motors; and
Whereas: the silent design of these electric and hybrid cars poses a safety risk to blind, vision impaired, deaf-blind, and elderly pedestrians as well as children; and
Whereas there are no current standards for the consistent sound output of these vehicles;
Be it resolved that the NFB:AE work with manufactures and regulatory bodies to develop design standards for these cars which will take into account the safety requirements of all pedestrians.
