2010-03: adoption of "Declaration of Non-Discrimination"

Whereas, AEBC resolution 2005-02 states, in part,


The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians supports the enactment and enforcement of policies and programs that will advance the development of human rights both within and outside of Canada; and

The Board of the AEBC believes it is important that we also practice the advancement of human rights principles within our own organization;


Therefore, be it resolved that The AEBC adopt and uphold the City of Toronto policy statement which prohibits discrimination and harassment and protects the right to be free of hate activity, based on age, ancestry, citizenship, creed (religion), colour, disability, ethnic origin, family status, gender identity, level of literacy, marital status, place of origin, membership in a union or staff association, political affiliation, race, receipt of public assistance, record of offences, sex, sexual orientation or any other personal characteristics by or within the organization.
