Press Release: Blind Canadians Demand Halt to the Attack on Employment Equity

August 5, 2010 -- The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) is calling on the Federal Government to stop its attacks on Employment Equity. "All fair minded Canadians object to recent insinuations that unmerited candidates from equity-seeking groups are taking over all the jobs of 'qualified white candidates', thanks to Federal Employment Equity measures," says John Rae, 1st Vice President of AEBC, a nationwide organization of blind and partially sighted Canadians. "If this were true, statistics would tell us that whites are no longer being hired by the federal public service, but no one has had the gall to suggest this," adds Rae. Read the full press release.

Toronto Chapter: Community Connect 2010 - May 2, 2010

On Sunday, May 2nd, 2010, the Toronto Chapter held Community Connect 2010, featuring displays and presentations by a variety of recreational groups, vendors, and not-for-profit organizations in Toronto. Montreal Chapter: NEADS/Yellow Door Concert - Bakesale Fundraiser - May 28-29, 2010

On May 28th and 29th, the Yellow Door Choir (based in Montreal) will host a concert series benefitting the National Educational Association of Disabled Students. The AEBC Montreal chapter will be running a bake sale on both nights during intermission, with the proceeds from the sale going to the chapter. Tickets to the concert are available for $20.00 per person ($15.00 for students), and may be ordered online through the Yellow Door Choir web site.
