Listserve Guidelines

• When replying to a message, it is not necessary to delete the entire previous message. Please leave enough of the thread to maintain continuity.
• Make sure that the subject line of the message is relevant to its content.
• Please develop a new subject when introducing a new thread.
• Please send personal messages directly to their intended recipients rather than to the entire list.
• Sometimes it is difficult to convey "tone" in an electronic format. What you say in a joking or sarcastic manner may be misinterpreted. Be careful.

AEBC prohibits the use of the list serve for:

• Gossip.
• Derogatory language, offensive or insulting remarks.
• Promoting a business for personal gain, sending chain letters or soliciting money for anything other than AEBC business.
• Offensive or harassing statements, including disparagement of others based on their race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, religious or political beliefs.
• This list does not permit you to send attachments.

The above guidelines are in place to foster a community that is friendly, informative and free of personal harassment. Failure to adhere to the guidelines will result in the following:

1. Any list member may approach one of the AEBC's Board of Directors with a complaint.
2. If the Director determines that the issue has merit, it will be brought to the rest of the Board and, if it receives the support of at least five Directors, a written warning will be issued to the offender(s), detailing the particulars of the offence.
3. The offender(s) will then have an opportunity to respond to the allegations and all efforts will be made to resolve the issue fairly.
4. However, should no resolution be possible, and the person(s) in question judged to have violated the list serve's guidelines, the offender(s) will be removed from the list.
5. Should the offender(s) wish to rejoin the list in the future, the request would have to be brought to the Board and receive the support of at least five Board members.

Remember that any views or opinions expressed on this list do not necessarily reflect actual policies of AEBC nor necessarily the views of the majority of the members who are not on this list.
