Memorandum of Understanding between Accessible Media Inc. and The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians

The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to establish and define a collaborative relationship between Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) and the Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC). Both parties to this agreement share the broad goal of developing awareness of their respective organizations and creating a better understanding of each organizations mission.

  1. Promotion

a)      AMI will produce one and air one 30 second PSA’s for the AEBC (Note: The AEBC will have full ownership and usage of the PSA)

b)     AMI will provide editorial/news coverage of AEBC media events, subject to advance notice and staff availability

c)      AMI will run the PSA’s on both broadcast services (AMI-tv, AMI-audio)

d)     AMI will be a lead sponsor of the AEBC AGM (Proposal under separate cover)

  1. Research

a)      AEBC to promote and encourage members to participate in AMI’s proprietary research panel

b)     The AEBC will have the opportunity to annually add one closed-ended question into a pre-planned quantitative study. The results of that question will be shared with the AEBC exclusively.

  1. Communications to AEBC Member Base

a)      Reciprocal online web links, buttons and e-newsletter submissions

b)     AEBC undertakes to distribute AMI materials and program information through its member database

c)      Distribution of AMI pamphlets at AEBC events and direct mail to members, including a exhibit booth at conferences

d)     AEBC commits to two dialogue sessions (i.e. town hall meetings) with a mutually agreed agenda and with the participation of key AEBC Board Members and select Chapter Presidents, subject to participants availability. It is understood the dialogue sessions will be hosted by AMI at their discretion.

e)      AEBC to encourage member tuning to AMI services to promote AEBC specific content

Note: While it is understood the majority of communications will be electronic, where necessary or desired by AMI, the AEBC will confirm the requirements and quantities for braille and large print format materials. It is understood that AMI will cover any additional postal charges that may be incurred as a result of including AMI materials.

  1. Programming Content

a)      AMI to provide AEBC with a half hour audio program window (24 program minutes) once per quarter to communicate directly with viewers/listeners. AMI will assist with the production of the program and will provide a time-slot for the program to air. The AEBC is responsible for show content and can run an AEBC PSA in the body of the program. AMI has the right to promote other content during program breaks. Note:

  1. The program will be clearly identified as non-AMI/3rd party content.
  2. Date and times to be confirmed and are subject to pre-emption

b)     The AEBC will promote the airdates of the audio program through all available channels (AEBC website, special notice to members etc.)

  1. Speaking Opportunities

a)      Speaking opportunities at conferences, Board meetings, chapter meetings and events (schedule to be determined)

  1. Periodic Review

a)      The two parties agree to review this agreement a minimum of 60 days prior to the anniversary date to identify changes (additions or deletions) to the memorandum for the following year.

b)     In the event of changes, a revised MOU will be issued and once signed will replace the preceding version.

c)      This agreement is effective December 1, 2012 and the anniversary date is deemed to be December 1, 2013.
