Peoples Drug Mart now offering accessible prescription drug labels in Vancouver
The following announcement was received from ASIC (Access for Sight-Impaired Consumers) and will be of particular interest to Vancouver residents:
To: All residents of British Columbia who are blind or sight-impaired:
Access for Sight-Impaired Consumers congratulates Peoples Drug Mart as we welcome them to the growing family of socially responsible pharmacy outlets that have addressed the challenge of accessing prescription information by people with vision loss.
Peoples Drug Mart is pleased to announce the availability of encoded labels that will provide prescription information in conjunction with En-Vision America's ScripTalk reader. Initially, this service is available in their Vancouver location at Champlain Mall. "We are very pleased to be working with Access for Sight-Impaired Consumers to provide a safe and private way for people who are blind or sight-impaired to listen to their prescription label information and use their medications appropriately. As a compliment to ScripTalk, we will soon be offering large print prescription labels with the information of the medication on each prescription bottle" said Smita Natha, Professional Services Coordinator at Peoples Drug Mart.
En-Vision America will provide the ScripTalk reader, to all Peoples Drug Mart customers free of charge. Getting started with Script Talk is easy. Please contact Peoples Drug Mart in Vancouver and speak to their pharmacy team about ScripTalk. Their team will arrange shipment of your complimentary ScripTalk unit directly to your home and when your medications are filled at Peoples Drug Mart, they will encode a label with the prescription information to provide audio information through the ScripTalk reader.
The ScripTalk service will be available starting October 1st at their Vancouver location, with expansion of these services to other Peoples Drug Mart and Peoples Pharmacy locations around BC to follow. We will advise as other Peoples Drug Mart pharmacies offer this valuable service.
The Vancouver Peoples Drug Mart #168 (in Champlain Mall), 7160 Kerr Street, Vancouver, BC, V5S 4W2, Telephone: 604-434-2656 will be the first of their stores to launch this service.
We will keep you well advised as this service expands throughout BC.
