Descriptive Video "Best Practices" -- AEBC seeks your input by January 17, 2015!

Working collaboratively with the Canadian Association of Broadcasters and various grassroots consumer organizations since 2012, AMI has led the development of two "best practices" documents relating to described video.

These guidelines are intended to provide some consistency to the artistic elements as well as some technical elements of describing video that may be open to interpretation based on perspective and context. The best practices guides are understood to be 'living documents' that will necessarily be subject to review and updating as time passes, technologies change, the industry matures, and new opportunities and challenges come to the forefront.

To that end, the DVBP Working Group will be meeting on January 22 to review and discuss the DV Best Practices Guide and the Live Description Best Practices Guide and to consider, amongst other things, whether there are any new developments that need to be incorporated into these documents.

You can download the current editions of the best practice guides from AMI's web site.

If you have any comments, concerns, or ideas for points that should be discussed from the perspective of the blind and low vision community, please email them to us at before January 17th, 2015.
