Workshop on Using Twitter: Thursday, June 25th @ 8pm Eastern

Following on the success of our workshop on social media, we thought we would conduct another one of these conference calls. This time, we will focus on the Twitter social network. This is a network of millions of users around the world who post everything from personal info to news stories, publicize social issues and a whole bunch of other uses. Because this is mostly an entirely text based platform, it is also for the most part completely accessible and can be used equally well by pretty much everyone.

In this workshop, Brian Moore will demonstrate how to use Twitter to follow issues of interest, how to gain support for a particular issue you are trying to raise, and how to interact with your peers and get real time info on everything from tech issues to cooking tips. He uses Twitter as a professional sounding board when he encounters accessibility issues, and for fun conversations with friends on topics which make for a slightly lighter day.

He will demonstrate how to use various tools to interact with Twitter from the web site itself to a couple of computer clients which makes Twitter particularly easy and fast for blind people. He will also demonstrate using a phone as a tool for posting and reading Twitter.

This workshop will take place Thursday, June 25th at 8 p.m. Eastern. To join us, please contact Maryse Glaude-Beaulieu by email at secretary@blindcanadians.ca or by phone at 1-800-561-4774 for the call-in information.
