Montreal Chapter Comedy Night!: March 4, 2011
On Friday, March 4th, 2011, the Greater Montreal Chapter of the Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC), in cooperation with Ernie Butler's Comedy Nest, is hosting a comedy night in support of blind, deaf-blind and partially sighted Canadians. In a 2006 survey conducted by Statistics Canada, more than 800,000 Canadians reported having a "seeing limitation," and almost 90,000 of those reported being legally blind.
The AEBC, originally founded in 1992, helps blind Canadians by:
- supporting students with scholarship awards each year;
- publishing a biannual magazine on blindness issues (the Canadian Blind Monitor) in print, braille, and electronic formats that reaches more than 4,500 subscribers;
- providing a network of contacts across the country, allowing those adjusting to loss of vision with a wealth of resources, tips, and peer support;
- working with schools, employers, and government to help those who are blind and partially sighted engage in all aspects of Canadian society;
- and more!
