The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) invites business and not-for-profit and community organizations to participate and exhibit at the AEBC Vision Assistive Technology and Community Support Exhibition 2018, taking place in Burnaby BC on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel. This event will coincide with AEBC’s 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) April 27-29, 2018.

The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC), founded in Kelowna, British Columbia in 1992, will be celebrating 26 years of working toward the full inclusion and participation of blind, deaf-blind, and partially sighted Canadians in all aspects of society. Through its public education, peer support, training opportunities, and public policy advocacy activities, the AEBC and its members have many successes to look back on and many future opportunities to look forward to.

We are looking for your support and hope you would join us at this meaningful event. Your attendance and participation is very important to our community.

We are asking you to consider exhibiting and/or sponsoring the AEBC Vision Assistive Technology and Community Support Exhibition 2018. Whether you are an employer, a service provider, a social or recreational group, a vendor of assistive technology products, this event will be an excellent venue to network and interact with the blind, deaf-blind and partially sighted community.

Guest Room Block and Rates

Single/double occupancy is $159 per night (Deluxe King or 2 Queen Bed rooms), plus applicable taxes. $20 charge per person beyond double occupancy. Please note additional costs for triple and quad occupancy may apply.

Hotel room rates are subject to all applicable tax and fees, currently 5% Goods and Services tax and 10% room tax.

AEBC Vision Assistive Technology and Community Support Exhibition 2018

We are inviting various exhibitors to showcase their products and services at this public event.

Meeting Rooms: We have two meeting rooms reserved. Waterford 1 and 2 on the 3rd floor and the Tiffany rooms on the 2nd floor.

Exhibition Hall: The Exhibition Hall will be held in the Waterford rooms, on Friday April 27th from 9 AM until 4 PM.

Workshops and Presentations: The workshops and Presentations will be held in the Tiffany A, B, and C rooms, on Friday April 27th from 8:30 AM until 5PM.

Who should attend this worthwhile free event

This public event will appeal to a wide range of individuals:

  • People and families affected by vision loss;
  • Consumers seeking information about service providers, products and/or services in the area of vision loss;
  • Organizations that have embraced diversity with initiatives to remove access barriers to employees or customers with vision loss;
  • Teachers, students and parents looking for accessible solutions in the education setting.
  • Anyone else who is interested in the areas of access, inclusion, independent living, and caregiving.

Exhibit Hall: Waterford 1 and 2 Rooms, 3rd floor: Friday April 27th 2018 from 9 AM until 4 PM

Cost to Exhibitors: Non Profit: $75. (Max 1 table) For Profit: $250. (Max 2 tables)

Electricity and Wi-Fi: Electricity is complimentary: (Please bring your own extension cord and power bars). Wi-Fi: Is complimentary: Please ask for log in information at the registration table.

Lunch: Lunch is not included, although we will have volunteers to watch your table(s) while you have your lunch.

Set-Up: You are welcome to set up your table(s) between 7:30 AM until 8:45AM. (All tables must be set up by 8:45 AM, as the exhibit hall opens at 9 AM sharp.)

Presentations and Workshops: Tiffany Rooms 2nd floor: Further details to be announced in February.. Tiffany C has been reserved for workshops by exhibitors and places will be awarded based on the date of the registration of the exhibitor.

If you wish to participate in the AEBC Vision Assistive Technology and Community Support Exhibition 2018, please download complete the Registration Form (below) and return it to the address provided as soon as possible. This event has received a great deal of interest from our informal discussions with the various community groups and vendors; we expect that exhibit tables will be filled quickly.

We will be accepting completed registration forms and payment up until Friday, March 16, 2018, however exhibit space will be determined on a “first come, first serve” basis. We would also like to promote the organizations that are exhibiting to our membership and the public press releases and Friday program.
