The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child "How Does Canada Measure Up?" report has been published. BCYPA made a submission to
The Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children who compiled this report, and is specifically mentioned in it. The following is an excerpt from the report: "This monitoring initiative is a highwater mark in the coalitions 10-year history. In 1989, nine organizations committed to working with the Honorable Landon Pearson, the founding chairperson of the Coalition, to promote the ratification of the Convention and raise awareness of children's rights in Canada. Today, 34 organizations, in concert with many others, are presenting Canada's first five-year non-governmental progress report to the UN Committee."
BCYPA has a copy for those who are interested.
BCYPA operating funds are generated through membership fees, donations, fundraising and private grants. Charitable receipts are available. Charitable donations should be made out to the NFB:AE with BCYPA designated as the recipient of your donation.
