Nfb Bookshelf The Encounter, By Carl Olsen

If you are like most blind people one of the most frequently asked questions you hear is "How do I know who to help, when to help, and how to help?" This cartoon booklet answers those questions in a lighthearted way. Even the most nervous member of the public will chuckle at him or herself before the last page has been turned. The message in this book is simple. Blind people are ordinary folks. If you wonder whether they need help, just ask. The message is delivered without preaching and without patronizing either the blind person or the would-be good samaritan.

The Encounter was written for Nebraska Services for the Visually Impaired by Carl Olsen. It is available through the National Federation of the Blind, Material Centre, 1800 Johnson Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21230, Telephone: (410) 659-9314. Cost $3.00.
