This issue of The Canadian Blind Monitor is reaching you more than four months after the end of the first Canadian convention of the NFB:AE. The convention was a time of excitement and promise.

At the Wednesday evening reception hosted by the Lower Mainland Chapter, more than 120 people came to make new friendships and renew old ones.

The agenda was packed with items dealing with employment, rehabilitation, services to blind children and much more.

The Friday evening banquet, ably chaired by Oriano Belusic, was a time for reflection and rededication.

The Saturday morning business meeting saw the passage of several resolutions (see elsewhere in this issue), and the election of officers to guide us in the coming years.

These new officers are: Richard Marion, Lower Mainland Chapter, Coquitlam, President; Oriano Belusic, Vancouver Island Chapter, Victoria, First-vice-president; Betty Nobel, Lower Mainland Chapter, Surrey, Second-vice-president; Mary Ellen Gabias, Central Okanagan Chapter, Kelowna, Secretary; John Rae, Toronto Chapter, Toronto, Treasurer; and Dr. Sandi Dewdney, Vancouver Island Chapter, Victoria, Board Member-at-large.

The next issue of The Canadian Blind Monitor will include thought-provoking excerpts and commentary from convention panels. For now we will whet your appetite with a few samples.
