CBM Submission Guidelines

The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) welcomes the submission of articles for possible publication in its magazine, the Canadian Blind Monitor (CBM). Produced once a year in print, braille and audio formats, as well as being posted on our website, each edition of the CBM focuses on a specific theme and features personal stories and general articles on adaptive techniques, coping methods, technology, education, employment, current affairs and other issues affecting persons who are blind, deaf-blind and  partially sighted. The magazine also contains a resource section and important items highlighting AEBC's activities.

To review past issues of the CBM and to get an idea of the types of articles we publish, please visit http://www.blindcanadians.ca/publications/cbm.

Article submissions, queries and items for the resource section may be submitted online by contacting the CBM editor, Brenda Cooke

Guidelines

  1. Articles must be the original work of the writer.

  2. We typically publish articles up to a maximum of 750-1000 words, though we sometimes run longer items if content warrants. Please contact the Editor to discuss articles of a longer length.

  3. Articles must be given a title, be proofread and spell-checked before submission.

  4. If you are submitting the text of your article online through the web site, we will require a subsequent copy in Microsoft Word format.

  5. A one or two sentence blurb providing biographical information (such as affiliation to AEBC, occupation, city/province of residence etc.) about the author should accompany the submission.

  6. It would greatly be appreciated a head & shoulders picture of the author or a photo related to the subject of the article in jpeg format could be supplied.

  7. We reserve the right to do minor editing. If major editing is required, we will return an article to its author for revision.

  8. While AEBC does not currently provide financial remuneration, the CBM is a good opportunity for writers to see their work published. Authors may also request a complimentary copy of the magazine in which their articles appear.

  9. For information on reprinting an article from the CBM, please contact the Editor.

Thank you for your interest in the Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians and the Canadian Blind Monitor.
