We are hiring! Part-time Program Coordinator at AEBC - POSITION FILLED

Preferred Start Date: February 3, 2025

The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) is seeking a part-time Program Coordinator to develop and manage priority projects that advance our mission of advocating for the rights of blind, Deafblind, and partially sighted Canadians.


Who We Are:

AEBC is a national charitable organization led by blind, Deafblind, and partially sighted individuals. Our mission is to increase awareness and advocate for equal participation in all aspects of society.


Who You Are:

You are a motivated, detail-oriented individual passionate about project development and community engagement. You have experience working with nonprofit organizations and a commitment to accessibility and inclusion. You understand research protocols and government legislation. You are comfortable with remote work and digital tools, including Microsoft 365 and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom.


The ideal candidate will also possess the following:

  • Proven program management skills, including planning, execution, and evaluation.

  • An understanding of disability rights, advocacy and DEI principles.

  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Familiarity with accessibility guidelines and the needs of the blind, Deafblind, and partially sighted community.

  • The ability to speak and write in French will be considered an asset.


Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director and working with AEBC committees and the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will embark on a research, advocacy and educational project that will help set the stage for our long-term sustainable growth. Your knowledge of the disability space in Canada and gaps within it will help determine the final project outcomes within the first few weeks of your tenure.

  • Collaborate with the Board to define project scope, objectives, and priorities.

  • Develop work plans, timelines, and budgets for assigned projects.

  • Engage members and stakeholders to ensure inclusive participation in project activities.

  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, providing regular updates to the Board.

  • Identify funding opportunities and prepare applications and reports to support project sustainability.

  • Organize and coordinate events or workshops related to project goals.


Remuneration: A $24,000 contract, with the expectation that the initial phase (February and March 2025) will have the majority of hours.
