Foundations of Disability Inclusion Workshop:

AEBC Toronto Chapter invites all members to a 2-hour workshop delivered virtually by CILT's Inclusion of Disability Equity and Access (IDE+A) Training team.

 

When: April 25, 2024 - 6:30 PM Eastern Time 

 

This IDE+A Project training may give our organization a better understanding of disability and access as integral to effective Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work and provide you with strategies to improve access at the service user, staff and management levels. Its main aim is to support progress on disability inclusion in Toronto’s non-profit sector.

 

Learning Objectives:

Recognize Accessibility as foundational DEI work.Understand disability as part of human diversity.Recognize rights, roles and responsibilities.Explore ways to actively practice anti ableism.

Identify and apply disability justice principles.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

 

Through grant funding by United Way Greater Toronto, CILT offers these IDE+A workshops at no cost to non-profits during this pilot training phase.

The BC Affiliate will be participating at the View Point educational conference in Vancouver on April 20, 2024, an event supported by Fighting Blindness Canada on the latest information in vision health and research. This will be a good opportunity to network and promote public awareness of who we are and what we do, while learning more about what they have to offer. Registration is free for anyone wishing to attend.

The 2024-2025 AEBC/Allyant Scholarship Program is open. The application deadline is Friday, May 17th, 2024. For more information, visit the Scholarship page of our website

 

Annual Membership Renewals

If you are an annual member, a reminder that your membership is up for renewal. AEBC issues memberships according to its fiscal year. Therefore, membership runs from April 1 to March 31 of the following year. Any memberships paid on or after January 1, 2024, are valid through to March 31, 2025. Annual memberships are $10 each, and upgrades to a Life-Time memberships are a one-time payment of $100.

Annual General Meeting 2024

The 2024 AGM will be held in person in Vancouver, BC at the River Rock Casino Resort September 22, 2024. We will be designing a special day including a guest speaker, luncheon, and AGM meeting. Members will be able to attend in person if desired. We have a limited number of hotel rooms available at a reduced rate. Please email Carol at operations@blindcanadians.ca if you are interested in reserving a room at the hotel. The AGM will also be streamed live using Zoom and members across Canada can join virtually.
