2011 Conference - Brantford, ON - Workshops

The following workshops have been proposed and are currently scheduled for the 2011 conference.  These are subject to change.

Saturday Morning

1a: Filing Human Rights Complaints

This practical workshop will introduce you to the procedure of filing a human rights complaint, what you can expect from the process, and how (generally) such complaints are resolved across Canada.

1b: Review of 2011 Priorities

At the 2010 conference, AEBC established 3 priority issues for work in the 2010-2011 year: accessibility of household products & point of sale devices, library services, and website accessibility.  In this session, we will discuss the progress on these issues to date, and consider whether the organization's focus should be changed for 2011-2012.

Saturday Afternoon

2a: Working with the CRTC

An introduction to the work of the Canadian Radio-television & Telecommunications Commission as it relates to accessibility, AEBC's role in that effort, and what we can do to increase the availability of accessible programming going forward.

2b: Use of Social Media

A look at some of the most popular social media platforms (such as Facebook or Twitter), their importance and role in the work of AEBC, and how we (as members) can effectively utilize these tools to further our objectives.
