The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) is proud to be the first signatory on a joint statement issued this week by organizations supporting people with disabilities across the country. The statement, available through the CNIB website, highlights our shared commitment to working collaboratively with the new federal Cabinet while also holding them to the promises made to our communities.
At AEBC, we recognize that leadership in the disability community means speaking up, working together, and staying focused on the long game. That’s why, as part of this broader statement, we’ve also taken concrete steps: sending letters to the new Minister of Health, Marjorie Michel, and the new Minister of Jobs and Families, Patti Hajdu. In both letters, we expressed our willingness to work constructively and urged the government to take immediate and meaningful action, particularly around the implementation and strengthening of the Canada Disability Benefit and the National Eye Care Strategy.
As members of AEBC, you are part of a national organization that doesn’t just react—we lead. We are asking questions and bringing solutions to the table. And we partner where it makes sense to move policy forward for blind, Deafblind and partially sighted Canadians.
We’re stronger when we speak with a shared voice with our unique and important message.
